The book corner section highlights the most original aspects of this season's themes and culture, through works selected from our KENZO boutiques and reviewed by Angelo Cirimele. This week he chose issue 3 of System magazine, one of Carol and Humberto's favorite magazines.
Given the pace at which Instagram accounts are being updated, we could almost consider magazines published bi-annually as books. That's to say as works of reference, historical compilations, as objects whose purpose is to join our library shelves. System likes to play that game and revels in talking about analogue things. In this issue: Warhol’s collaborator Bob Colacello, Caffè Cova, the coffeehouse and pastry shop founded almost two hundred years ago, and other masters that the general public is unaware of. However, hidden behind this tendency towards nostalgia, System has a larger scope than recent history. The magazine focuses on what the industry producing images and luxury goods is all about: its system, its trends and its protagonists, with whom System offers long, grilling interviews. As a bonus, there is a booklet containing students’ works done during a workshop with Juergen Teller.
