KENZO MEN'S SPRING/SUMMER 2014 SHOW
This morning our men's Spring Summer 2014 show was taking place at the Fratellini circus academy!
This collection started with a deep affection for Carol and Humberto's home state of California and the subcultures and underground movements from the beach towns on the Pacific Ocean.
The collection was conceived to evoke a relaxed, cool and easygoing attitude and then punctuated with graphic strokes. The entirely hand drawn prints incorporate aqua motifs of tides, waves and scribbled watchwords, and are mixed with strong black, white and blue color-blocks. We let the loose, oversize and fluid mix with deconstructed and embroidered elements, letting city life collide with beach nonchalance, the way it only does in California.
Short-length cotton linen trousers, almost cut-offs, inflect a breezy allure to a boxy sweltered silhouette. Deconstructed jackets and blazers in lunar-rock grey and neoprene tee shirts feature raw edges. Natural fabrics of cotton linens, cotton satin and paper cotton confront nylon trims in a melding with the technical. Elasticized leathered and neoprene booties and slides mix the main prints of the collection with blocks of the featured West Coast colors: black, white, red and blue.
