Santouka Ramen in Shibuya is our go to ramen place in Tokyo! Hidden in a narrow alley behind Omotesando, they have one small outside table and traditional bar seating inside to watch all the action in the kitchen, where a constant stream of meditative Japanese announces throughout the kitchen the various steps they cooks are taking in their cooking.
Our favorite thing to get here is the lighter shouyu ramen with it's delicious pork chashu, pickled bamboo menma, that, coupled with hard "katamen" noodles, may just be our favorite bowl of ramen. It's just that good! We also love the "tsukemen" here, where the noodles and ingredients come on the side and you get to dip the noodles into the broth at your own pace. This is perfect thing for these warm spring days when you're still longing for a great bowl of authentic Japanese ramen.
