When he arrived in Paris, Kenzo Takada found Parisian fashion a little sad and dull. In response, he set out to create colourful and graphic pieces.

While primary and bright colours were his favourites, he was not afraid to mix different shades together and add patterns. Flowers, animals, landscapes, Japanese iconography, checks and stripes dominated each collection.
