Our Kalifornia bag celebrates its third season with new colorways, new fabrics but also a new format: the Mini Kali! In rubberized waterproof leather, the Mini Kali will land in the eshop and in our KENZO boutiques from December 1st 2014. Available in yellow, midnight blue, rose and white, it also comes in the traditional Kalifornia colors: red, grey and black.
KALIFORNIA TURNS RED!
Last year, we launched our new timeless handbag Kalifornia, born from street chic Parisian heritage meeting Carol and Humberto’s laid back west coast cool in the house.
Kalifornia brings their urban sensibilities, honed in downtown Manhattan, together with the spirit of sundrenched afternoons between the shore and the pavement. The soft, deconstructed design is punctuated by two “k“ zip details flanking either side of the bag that double as pockets, an ode to the ultimate biker’s perfecto.
This season, our Kalifornia is 100% waterproof, easily cleaned, and comes in two sizes, medium and large, making it the perfect companion for the discerning urban woman with a busy schedule. A trio of handsome colorways - red, brown and dark grey - ensures that it’s particularly nimble from day-to-day. Especially developed for KENZO, this exclusive material accentuates the functionality that makes the Kalifornia so distinct.
Embracing color, the nylon padded, fluorescent Kalifornia is perfect for those not shy to make stylish noise. Lined with lamb’s fur, this playful addition to the Kenzo family is available in three sizes: small, medium and large; and three colors: lime, orange and kaki, and straddles the line between color–pop daywear and fun eveningwear with ease and lots and lots of gusto.
With a focus on luxurious materials, this Kalifornia is made of leather and wool on which is printed an exclusive Mountain motif from KENZO’s fall 2014 collection. Available in large and in a choice of two colors, grey or violet, this bag is unmistakably Kenzo in its sophisticated use of color and print.
KENZO’s Fall/Winter collection was inspired by the works of David Lynch and this Kalifornia’s lively “broken floor” pattern encapsulates its themes best. Made of padded nylon, its impressive bicolor gives it the honor of most striking of the Kalifornias and provides its owner with the fun, unique and high energy spirit that pervades Kenzo’s colorful and lively history.
The Kalifornia bags in different colorways and sizes are available in the eshop!
After a countdown week of teaser GIFS, we are excited to finally reveal the KENZO Fall/Winter 2014 campaign, our third collaboration with the trio from Toiletpaper Magazine!
The KENZO Fall-Winter 2014 campaign takes us on a mysterious journey to an unfamiliar world. A place where the ordinary is slightly distorted, mirrors lead to other dimensions, and the strange and beautiful coexist in singular harmony...
Here is an exclusive look at the 12 campaign visuals, for men and women, KENZO kids, watches and accessories!
The KENZO Kalifornia campaign
Carol Lim: "This being our third collaboration, we were interested in figuring out ways to evolve the past concepts into something that felt different but still in the spirit of both KENZO and TOILETPAPER. Since the collection was inspired by David Lynch, it was natural for us to incorporate some of the emotions we experience when seeing his work."
Our mysterious muse for Fall/Winter 2014, the legendary Guinevere van Seenus.
Humberto Leon: "Guinevere really feels like a woman who could live in David Lynch's world and could emulate the range of charactor one could see in his movies. We loved how she plays on the subtly ambiguous relationship with Robbie. It's part of the process of trying to discern what's really going on."

Product Highlight #5 : The Kalifornia bag
As you know, we love discovering exclusive places for our shows and events. After the Confucius temple in Shanghai, we once again managed to surprise our guests with a place that none of them knew. The Berrics is an indoor skatepark where only pro-skaters are allowed to ride, located at a secret address where the skate sessions are filmed and then posted online.
Our V.I.P guests including Fergie, Jessica Alba, Rose McGowan, Gillian Jacobs and Rashida Jones discovered a gigantic table decorated with candelabras and silverware, between grind boxes and quarter pipes.
The dinner was the perfect occasion for Carol and Humberto to spend time with their L.A. friends: Devon Aoki, Langley Fox, Carrie Brownstein, China Chow, Gia Coppola and Brad Goreski, around a delicious menu inspired by French gastronomy by Root of all Food collective.
After dinner, a surprise was revealed!
Once the tablecloth (embroidered with fish from Spring/Summer 2014 collection) was removed, the table transformed in to a skate ramp covered with KENZO stickers where four women skaters performed tricks riding back and forth right in front of the guests.
The evening came to an end under the Californian stars with a DJ set by Total Freedom and a live performance by the amazing Kelala.
We heard that some of the Kalifornia bags watched the sun rise that night on Santa Monica beach. The perfect debut for our “locals only” new icon, symbol of California, with a touch of French elegance of course!

INTRODUCING KENZO KALIFORNIA
The Kalifornia will also be available in KENZO stores starting on November 5th.
KENZO's street chic Parisian heritage meets laid back West Coast cool in the house's new timeless handbag, Kalifornia.
Born and raised in southern California, Humberto and Carol's L.A. heritage is an integral part of the new KENZO point of view. Kalifornia brings their urban sensibilities, honed in downtown Manhattan, together with the spirit of the sun-drenched afternoons between the shore and the pavement.
Distilled from their adolescence among the essential California tribes of beachcombers, bikers and skaters, this luxe and versatile leather bag exudes KENZO's fresh attitude.
Kalifornia is relaxed, yet precise, blending KENZO's French atelier craftsmanship with Humberto and Carol's Pacific coast nonchalance. The soft, deconstructed design is punctuated by two "K" zip details flanking either side of the bag that double as pockets, an ode to the ultimate biker's perfecto.
The hardware proportions of the KENZO metal zipper pulls and 3 snap closure are oversized and immediately recognizable as Kalifornia. Inside the contrast color interior, the bag features multiple pockets and holding areas to store all of her most important items.
Launching first on kenzo.com on October 31 - Kalifornia is available in multiple color ways including biker black and racer red.
