WHAT'S IN SEASON : NOVEMBER

Along with the fall colors, my favorite part of this season is watching the big fall harvest come into full swing at the farmer's market down my street. Now that it's November, in order to get the best possible fruits and vegetables, it's best to choose those that are in season with the local harvests at their peak. To help you pick what goods to pick when you're at the market, I've written down what's in season this month:

It is definitely the best time for corn, with most northern hemisphere countries' corn hitting its peak.

One of the best things to do with the fresh corn readily available is this recipe for fresh corn soup.

My second favorite thing to look for now is apples, which also hit their juicy peak this month. It's time for apple picking and drinking apple cider!

Apple cider is best made spiced and hot, so here's my favorite recipe for mulled apple cider.

Other things in their prime include:

  • Beets
  • Blackberries
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Chicory
  • Cranberries
  • Dates
  • Figs
  • Grapes
  • Leeks
  • Lettuce
  • Okra
  • Oranges
  • Parsnips
  • Peppers
  • Pumpkins
  • Shallots
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Turnips

Happy Thanksgiving!
