In 1964, Kenzo Takada set sail for Europe on "The Cambodge".
The month-long journey included a number of stops, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Djibouti and Alexandria.
Each one was a source of immense wonder. He was fascinated by the fabrics, colours and cuts, and was delighted to discover the diverse folk costumes.
This journey of initiation still resonates in the company's creations today.
